After the humiliating loss to Brighton with 3 – 2, Manchester United’s manager, Jose Mourinho blamed his team for making so many mistakes. Glenn Murray and Shane Duffy opened the game with a fast 2 – for Brighton at the 25th and 27th minute of the game. Romelu Lukaku scored then at then at the 34th minute, but it almost didn’t matter because of Pascal Gross’s goal right before the end of half time. With an ending score 3 – 1 during only the first half of the game, Manchester United was completely destroyed. It looked like they didn’t have any hope for this game, and were just waiting for it to be over. Paul Pogba scored a penalty shot during the extended time.
“We were punished by the mistakes we made. For me that’s the story of the game. We made incredible mistakes in some crucial moments. Mistakes that killed us.”
“Especially that third goal – we expected to come at 2 – 1 with positivity – then the third goal killed us off in the second half. Our second goal came too late.”
“The week leading up was good and I expected the team collectively to be better. There are basic mistakes that makes almost an impossible mission to win the match.”
